MassKara organizers accepting entries for singing, dance tilts
MassKara organizers are now accepting participants for “Tanda! Sing Na, Dance Pa!” competition that will open on Oct. 2 and will run daily until Oct. 21.
Interested participants can go to the Silver MassKara Festival Organization (SMFO) office or call event coordinator Amber Aguilar at 0920-0925-321.
The contest is divided into two: a singing contest that is open for individual contestants, and a dance contest which must be participated by duos.
The singing competition is open to amateur singers from Bacolod who are at least 12 years old. The dance competition is open to amateur duos.
There will be two performance stages around the plaza for both the singing and dance contests: Stage 1 located at the corner of San Juan-Gonzaga Streets, and Stage 2 at the corner of Gonzaga-Gatuslao Streets.
For the singing contest, the contestants will start at Stage 1 with upbeat or pop song, and transfer to Stage 2 with their winning piece.
For the dance contest, the contestants will start at Stage 1 with slow music and transfer to stage 2 with upbeat or pop music.
There will be nightly winners, who will compete again in the weekly finals on Oct. 7, 14, and 20. The grand finals will be on Oct. 21 at the Bacolod Public Plaza bandstand.
Contestants must prepare their own CDs with songs for every category. The song can be in English or Filipino.
Daily winners will receive P500, while non-winners will receive P250. Weekly winners will receive P500 and non-winners—P250. For the grand finals, the champion will receive P5,000— first runner-up—P4,000, and second runner-up—P3,000.
“Tanda!,” an official event of the 38th MassKara Festival, is a nightly sing-and-dance contests aimed at giving nightly entertainment at the Bacolod Public Plaza.
“Tanda!” proved to be a crowd drawer since its first run in 2012. It was continued last year with SMFO again as the festival organizer, and is now on its third year.*
