Mardi Gras winners named
After three nights of showing off their fabulous fantasy-inspired costumes featuring 38 contestants, five were chosen winners of the Nights of Mardi Gras on Wednesday [October 12].
Wearing a striking and warrior-inspired blue and silver costume, Joshua dela Cruz was declared the champion of the three-night showdown at the plaza. He received P10,000 cash prize.
First runner was Daryl Diaz, with P7,000; second runner-up—Carl Lawrence Pardilla, with P5,000; third runner-up—Saicy Basa, with P3,000; and fourth runner-up—Ella Mae Mercado, with P2,000.
Fifteen contestants received P500 each as consolation prize.
The Nights of Mardi Gras was another nightly entertainment at the public plaza on Oct. 10-12, featuring contestants wearing elaborate fantasy-inspired costumes. The other one is “Tanda! Sing na, Dance Pa,” which is ongoing until Oct. 22.
The Nights of Mardi Gras started in 2012 to perk up entertainment at the plaza while revelers are eating and dining at the kiosks.
Each night for three nights, a group of Mardi Gras-like models shows off their costumes at the plaza bandstand, then parade around Gatuslao, Gonzaga, and San Juan sides of the plaza.*
