Electric MassKara set Oct. 20-23
It is three days to go for this year’s Electric MassKara which happens once more at the Tourism Strip along Lacson St. in Bacolod.
One of the major highlights of the 37th MassKara Festival, the Electric MassKara will see the Tourism Strip shut down for four days of parades, concerts and street parties from Oct. 20 to 23.
The Electric MassKara management team, including Precinct 2 commander, Benedicto Villarias, has been meeting with the property owners along the strip in preparation for the event.
Festival Director Eli F. J. Tajanlangit announced that the sidewalk spaces in front of the existing properties in the strip will be controlled by the owners.
Neither the Silver MassKara Festival Organization, this year’s festival organizer, nor the City Hall will charge rentals for these spaces, he added.
Those who want to use these should talk to the property or buildings owners, he said.
The strip has been divided into five clusters, each of them with a concert stage, a security commander, and a cluster management team.
Traffic will be partially closed at 12 noon, and will be totally shut down at 4 p.m.Lights go up at 6 p.m.
Some of the ground rules are:
*Bottles are not allowed outside food establishments or convenient stores.
*Frisking will be implemented on all entrances along Tourism Strip.
*Establishments can only extend up to their respective side walk and or parking lots but must secure necessary special permit from City Hall.
*Side streets must be clear of any obstructions including side events.
For the special permits, applicants need to submit an existing business permit of a hotel, restaurant or bar, a waiver from the property owner allowing them use of space and an undertaking form.
