The MassKara Festival Drumbeating Competition at the Bacolod Public Plaza will kick off tonight [Oct. 17] and will run for three nights, or until Thursday [Oct. 19].
Each group is composed of eight to 12 members, wearing half masks and costumes.
The participants will play their music for two to three minutes for the judges along San Juan, Gatuslao and Gonzaga sides of the plaza.
There will be two elimination nights [October 17 and 18], where five groups will be chosen per night to advance to the grand finals on Thursday [Oct. 19].
The champion will receive P10,000 in cash; 1st runner-up—P7,000; and 2nd runner-up—P5,000. Non-winners will receive P2,000.
All groups will receive P2,000 in cash.
The drumbeating competition is a special event to entertain the MassKara revelers at the plaza, particularly those dining or drinking at the kiosks.*
